About the position

The Lead Facilities Associate at Wayside Waifs is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Team, ensuring the maintenance and repair of the organization's buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment. This role involves performing minor repairs, assisting with custodial duties, and supporting the Pet Memorial Services department. The Lead Facilities Associate also takes on leadership responsibilities, including training new associates and delegating tasks in the absence of the Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs to Wayside Waifs plant and equipment including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and interior wall repair.
• Schedule and/or perform light automotive maintenance and gutter cleaning.
• Ensure sidewalks and paths are cleared of snow/ice for safety.
• Provide back-up assistance with custodial duties as needed.
• Assist the Pet Memorial Services department with tasks such as mowing, snow removal, and preparing pet gravesites.
• Transport deceased pets from veterinary clinics to Wayside Waifs for cremation.
• Serve as a resource and assist with training new Facilities associates.
• Oversee and delegate tasks when the Facilities Manager is unavailable.
• Perform routine inspections of building systems and equipment to identify potential issues.

Requirements

• 5 years of maintenance experience required.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current driver's license and clean driving record required.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs. to waist height.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in animal care or working in an animal shelter environment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes.
