About the position

The Lead Facilities Control Systems Engineer at AESC will play a crucial role in the integration and automation of facility systems for new battery manufacturing plants in the Southeastern United States. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful launch of these facilities, focusing on various systems such as HVAC, security, and fire suppression. The engineer will lead contractors, manage vendor relationships, and oversee the design and implementation of control systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and optimizing facility performance.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Contractors to evaluate and approve Facility Control System design.
  • Lead interactions with external suppliers and vendors for Facility Equipment procurement.
  • Assist Process engineers with the selection and placement of instrumentation.
  • Develop standard HMI and SCADA designs using Ignition by Inductive Automation.
  • Develop Standard specs and Basis of Design for a fully integrated and Automated Battery Manufacturing Facility.
  • Establish and maintain advanced monitoring protocols for facility performance and predictive maintenance.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure collaboration.
  • Supervise integrators for the commissioning of supervisory control systems and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Assist local personnel with day-to-day facility operations.
  • Train local facility operations and maintenance staff.
  • Conduct regular assessments using data analytics for system optimization.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities and foster a collaborative work culture.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, or a related field.
  • 8-10+ years of hands-on experience in Facility Control Systems design and implementation in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Facility Industrial Hardware and Software with expertise in advanced control strategies and system integration.
  • Familiarity with protocols such as Profinet, ModbusTCP, Ethernet/IP, BACnet, OPC.
  • Proficiency in programming languages for PLC controlled Facilities: Structured Text, Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Sequential Function Chart (SFC), IEC 6113-3 Standard, JSON.
  • Experience with integrated Facility safety systems like fire alarms and access control.
  • Experience with selecting instruments for facility monitoring and control devices.
  • Experience with controlling Facility equipment to maintain clean and dry environments.
  • Strong understanding of network layout and infrastructure, including Fiber and Ethernet Switches.
  • Experience with Siemens PLC S7, TIA Portal, DDCs, and Distech.
  • Experience with Ignition by Inductive Automation is a plus.
  • Experience in start-up environments and leading/mentoring engineers.
  • Understanding of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards, and ISO14001 environmental standards.
