About the position

The Lead Facilities Operations Specialist at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and security of the Center's facilities. This includes overseeing office spaces, conference rooms, and other areas within the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. The role involves implementing event security protocols, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The position is a career ladder opportunity with a full performance level of GS-12, requiring specialized experience in facilities operations and management.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the Center's facilities, ensuring safety and security.
• Implement the Center's Event Security Protocol for high-profile events.
• Conduct risk assessments and manage emergency planning.
• Document and recommend changes to policies regarding facility operations.
• Perform daily inspections of the facility and assess the need for repairs.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for facility customer service requests.
• Coordinate and conduct safety inspections and OSHA training.
• Analyze and assess facility emergencies and safety issues.
• Ensure compliance with DC, federal, and GSA guidelines for kitchen/cafe operations.
• Meet with GSA managers to communicate operational updates.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in federal service.
• Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration, or three years of progressively higher-level graduate education in related fields.
• Experience in preparing plans for alterations/repairs on facility operations.
• Knowledge of facility maintenance and administrative requirements.
