About the position

The Lead Finance Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the Commercial Banking Operations at Wells Fargo. This position encompasses a range of Finance and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) responsibilities, particularly focusing on the management of Commercial Banking Operations expenses and efficiency initiatives. Key tasks include forecasting and budgeting, conducting month-end activities, financial reporting, and tracking and monitoring efficiency initiatives. The analyst will also be responsible for trending and analyzing underlying expense drivers and delivering insightful expense reports to both business and financial leadership. In this role, the Lead Finance Analyst will partner with senior business leaders and other key stakeholders to enhance overall financial performance, improve metrics, and achieve planned expectations and initiatives for Commercial Banking Operations. The analyst will ensure the efficient and effective execution of finance strategies and will be expected to recommend opportunities to senior business leaders that align with business objectives. Additionally, the role involves enhancing frameworks to deliver key forecasting projections and managing financial reporting effectively. The Lead Finance Analyst will also provide coaching and mentorship to less experienced teammates, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. This position requires a solid understanding of policies, procedures, and compliance requirements, ensuring that all deliverables are met while driving new initiatives forward. The analyst will be expected to prepare executive-level presentations that provide strategic insights for decision-making, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of both the financial and strategic aspects of the business to assist in its growth efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support Commercial Banking Operations with Finance and FP&A responsibilities.
  • Conduct forecasting and budgeting activities.
  • Manage month-end activities and financial reporting.
  • Track and monitor efficiency initiatives.
  • Analyze underlying expense drivers and trends.
  • Deliver expense insights to business and financial leadership.
  • Partner with senior business leaders to drive financial performance and metric improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Finance experience in finance, analytics, reporting, or financial/statistical modeling.
  • Demonstrated experience through work, training, military experience, or education.
  • Financial industry experience supporting a line of business is preferred.
  • BS/BA degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or Reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of Essbase Finance tools for reporting and analysis.
  • Experience with financial forecasting, planning, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and timely execution.
  • Proven relationship-building skills with the ability to consult with business partners at all levels.
  • Effective communication skills to translate and present financials and data.
