About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Financial Accountant to join the Corporate & Investment Banking Controllers Team. This role involves supporting line of business accounting activities, providing technical expertise on accounting issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Accountant will also mentor peers, enhance control environments, and ensure the accuracy of financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise regarding accounting issues, regulatory information, and research.
  • Prepare and review financial and regulatory reports.
  • Communicate practices and procedures for proper financial control functions in accordance with internal controls policies.
  • Provide technical interpretation on matters and act as a change agent in adopting best practices.
  • Mentor and provide work guidance to peers.
  • Serve as a lead accounting resource for tax credit investment portfolios.
  • Interface with the Enterprise Accounting Policy (EAP) team on accounting policy matters.
  • Act as a primary contact for new transactions and issues across portfolios.
  • Enhance and champion a COSO compliant control environment.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of SEC and Regulatory reports and filings.
  • Ensure timely completion of the books and records.
  • Maintain an effective control environment and ensure key processes operate efficiently.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Financial Reporting, or Risk Reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience through work, training, military experience, or education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Big four public accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles in the capital markets industry.
  • Experience preparing SEC & Regulatory reports for capital market products.
  • 3+ years of financial services industry experience.
  • Proficient in Essbase/SmartView/IRIS.
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
