About the position

The Lead Financial Analyst in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) at Verizon plays a crucial role in supporting the Sales organization by providing strategic financial insights and guidance. This position is part of a comprehensive initiative to enhance FP&A practices within the company, focusing on process improvement, data analysis, and business performance evaluation. The analyst will partner with Sales leaders to drive top-line growth and optimize workforce productivity, while also leading executive reviews and assessing the impact of financial decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Finance business partner to Sales leaders and their organizations.
  • Set quality and timely delivery of quotas and attainment monitoring, commissions support, and workforce productivity optimization.
  • Evaluate complex business performance issues and provide strategic guidance to drive profitable growth.
  • Interpret and evaluate monthly analyses of business trends, including budget variance and Key Performance Indicators to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Provide input into and support the development and communication of the Business Plan, Commitment View, Outlook, and Forecast.
  • Lead Executive reviews of financial and operating results.
  • Assess the impact of strategic financial decisions and present recommendations to leadership.
  • Design, develop, and implement methods and strategies to continually improve processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and GSuite with strong knowledge of Excel and digital tools.
  • Proficiency in one or any of the following: Essbase, Smart View, SQL, Alteryx/Knime, Qlik/Tableau, or Smartsheets.
  • Understanding of report query and design.
  • Experience in the technology and/or telecommunications industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • A professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA).
  • Understanding of financial planning, reporting & analysis, and costing/profitability methodologies and processes.
  • Knowledge of common business and financial drivers, financial statement analysis, and deep-dive analysis.
  • Experience supporting a Sales organization and with Quota setting.
  • Familiarity with the preparation of General Ledgers, Basic Knowledge of FASB requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to focus on the details.
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
