About the position

Voya Financial is seeking a highly energetic Lead Financial Analyst to join its Controller Operations team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting disclosures under various accounting standards, including US GAAP, Management basis, and Statutory basis. The Lead Financial Analyst will be responsible for preparing, compiling, and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with company policies and controls. This position allows for flexible work arrangements, including 100% remote work or a hybrid schedule, while requiring the ability to work Eastern Time Zone hours. In this role, the Lead Financial Analyst will interact and communicate with other functional departments to maintain the quality of financial reporting. The analyst will develop and utilize various analytical reports and procedures to assist in understanding and validating ledger balances. Additionally, the position involves leading and overseeing interactions between lower-level team members and functional areas, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial information, and analyzing financial activities. The Lead Financial Analyst will also be responsible for interacting with internal and external auditors, recommending process improvements, and leading problem-solving sessions. The role includes leading various projects, particularly those related to process improvement initiatives during the financial close, and understanding the functionality of financial reporting systems and applications. As a key team member, the Lead Financial Analyst will contribute to achieving the ultimate objectives of the team, department, and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compile and review journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with company policies, procedures and controls.
  • Interact, communicate and maintain liaison with other functional departments to ensure the quality, accuracy and completeness of the financial reporting disclosures under US GAAP basis, Management basis and Statutory basis of accounting.
  • Develop and utilize various analytical reports and procedures to assist with the understanding and validation of ledger balances.
  • Lead and oversee the interactions between lower level team members (including offshore resources) and functional areas.
  • Manage and coordinate the calendar for assigned deliverables to ensure the timeliness and accurate delivery of financial information including analyzing and reporting of financial activities.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors as needed.
  • Recommend process improvements and lead problem solving sessions and provide functional advice to less experienced analysts.
  • Lead various projects as assigned including process improvement initiatives related to the financial close.
  • Understand the functionality of financial reporting systems and applications.
  • Contribute as a key team member that meets the ultimate objectives of the team, department and organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years of corporate accounting experience
