About the position
The Fleet Service Center Lead Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of vehicle maintenance and repair at the Fleet Service Center. This role involves performing preventative maintenance and diagnostics on a variety of vehicles, as well as managing a team of mechanics to ensure efficient and effective repairs. The Lead Mechanic will prioritize repair orders, assign tasks, and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics on all types of vehicles and attachments.
- Provide direction to other mechanics in performing repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Manage daily operations at the Fleet Service Center, coordinating with other shifts and personnel.
- Prioritize repair orders based on equipment needs and urgency.
- Review repair work to ensure completeness and proper documentation.
- Process emergency repair requests when necessary.
- Cross-train and cover for the parts inventory controller as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years experience as an automotive mechanic.
- Class A commercial driver's license (tanker endorsement is a plus).
- Class 7 Pennsylvania state inspection license.
- Section 609 refrigeration license.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Past supervisory experience is a plus.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with heavy, medium, and light duty vehicles.
- Familiarity with DOT maintenance regulations.
