About the position
The Lead for Fresh Cut Produce at SpartanNash is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department in a retail store, particularly in the absence of the department manager. This role ensures that associates are trained, the department is fully staffed, and operations meet company standards and performance goals. The Lead will manage inventory, support team activities, and maintain product quality while adhering to company policies and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day activities of the department operations in the absence of the department manager.
- Order and maintain inventory while utilizing inventory control procedures.
- Review and validate received orders for quality and condition.
- Manage a team to ensure product quality and date-sensitive rotation.
- Maintain familiarity with all products and promotions in the department.
- Communicate and execute the weekly and period Flight Plan to company expectations.
- Support the department manager in scheduling, labor control, and payroll expense management.
- Implement company core values and competencies in daily operations.
- Attend and participate in daily huddles and meetings as required.
- Maintain a clean and well-stocked department following company standards.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED).
- 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organization and prioritization skills.
- Strong leadership abilities in a hands-on environment.
- Good knowledge of retail store operations and management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.
