About the position

Owens Realty Services is seeking a Lead General Cleaner for the 3rd shift, which runs from 10 PM to 6:30 AM. This position is crucial for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of various facilities managed by the company. The Lead General Cleaner will be responsible for performing custodial work across all areas of the facility, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a professional manner that reflects the highest integrity of the Custodial Department. The role involves routine cleaning of administrative offices, lobbies, cafeterias, lounges, corridors, elevators, and stairways, ensuring that these areas are kept clean, neat, and sanitary. In addition to general cleaning duties, the Lead General Cleaner will be tasked with cleaning and dusting furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, windows, doors, and related furnishings. This includes moving furniture and supplies as directed, collecting both recyclable and non-recyclable waste, and replacing trash can liners. The position requires periodic cleaning of telephones using germicidal and disinfectant cleaners, vacuuming traffic areas, and cleaning light switches, doors, walls, and tops of modular furniture. The Lead General Cleaner will also be responsible for polishing tables, benches, and chairs, removing cobwebs, and ensuring that trash is taken to assigned areas. Safety is a priority, and the Lead General Cleaner must secure job areas with safety signs, lock and unlock doors and windows as necessary, and report safety hazards to supervisors. The role requires adherence to safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following infection control practices. The Lead General Cleaner will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of cleaning equipment and ensuring that custodial closets remain locked at all times. This position is vital for creating a healthy and clean environment for all building tenants and visitors, contributing to the overall success of Owens Realty Services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Custodial Department.
  • Conduct routine cleaning of administrative offices, lobbies, cafeterias, lounges, corridors, elevators, and stairways.
  • Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, windows, doors, and related furnishings; move furniture and supplies as directed.
  • Collect both recyclable and non-recyclable waste and replace trash can liners.
  • Periodically clean telephones using germicidal and disinfectant cleaners.
  • Vacuum traffic areas and remove visible debris from carpets.
  • Clean light switches, doors, walls, tops of modular furniture, and blinds.
  • Polish tables, benches, and chairs; remove cobwebs as necessary.
  • Take trash to assigned areas and secure job areas with safety signs.
  • Lock and unlock doors and windows to offices and other rooms as necessary.
  • Turn off lights when rooms are unoccupied and maintain confidentiality according to policy.
  • Report safety hazards to supervisors as appropriate and follow all safety procedures including PPE requirements.
  • Follow infection control practices including hand washing techniques and ensure cleaning carts are not left unattended.
  • Keep hallways and pathways clear of carts, cleaning equipment, and tools; leave equipment clean and ready to use at the end of the shift.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is preferred.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions and apply common sense understanding to follow instructions provided.
  • Must be able to communicate and understand English.
  • Must possess a Class E license in good standing.
