The Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer (Network) is responsible for the planning, design, and engineering of enterprise-level infrastructure and platforms related to cloud network & cloud computing. The Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer (Network) provides strategic advice and guidance to functional team(s). Highly skilled with broad, advanced technical experience, this individual will lead Humana's network infrastructure implementation for Google Cloud. In this role, the Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer (Network) performs technical planning, architecture development, and modification of specifications for cloud network and cloud computing environments. They develop specifications for new IT cloud computing products and service offerings, assess the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards, and ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies. Working closely with senior executives, this role will help develop and drive segment or enterprise-wide functional strategies. The engineer will advise on multiple areas, programs, or functions and provide recommendations to senior executives on significant matters, acting as an advanced subject matter expert competent to work at very high levels in multiple knowledge and functional areas across the enterprise, with a particular focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer (Network) will also develop and evaluate cloud network performance criteria and measurement methods, prepare analyses of short-term or long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission, and signaling, and conduct cloud network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. They will develop alternative cloud routing scenarios and changes in the required sequence of network activities, conduct economic and population growth studies to determine the impact on cloud network capacity, and begin to influence the department's strategy. This role requires making decisions on moderately complex to more complex issues regarding the technical approach for project components, with work performed without direction and considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. On-call and implementation duties may be required on nights and weekends as necessary. Humana is seeking a Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer (Network) who will deliver solutions for Multi-Cloud network connectivity. This critical role within Humana's IT organization is responsible for the engineering and design, planning, implementation, and establishment of operational and maintenance programs to deliver best-in-class next-generation cloud network infrastructure. This includes optimizing all aspects of the cloud network ecosystem, including performance, resiliency, availability, resource utilization, and innovation. The engineer will provide cloud network design, engineering, and administrative support of both physical and virtual networking devices within Multi-Cloud environments, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP). They will leverage state-of-the-art networking technologies, including virtualization and software-defined networking (SDN), to develop and deliver a robust, scalable cloud network ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and engineering of enterprise-level cloud network infrastructure.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to functional teams regarding cloud network solutions.
  • Perform technical planning and architecture development for cloud computing environments.
  • Develop specifications for new IT cloud computing products and service offerings.
  • Assess compatibility and integration of proposed products/services to ensure an integrated architecture.

  • Perform on-call and implementation duties as required, including nights and weekends.
  • Deliver solutions for Multi-Cloud network connectivity and optimize cloud network ecosystems.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in a technical or scientific field.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting, implementing, and supporting large-scale cloud network infrastructure.
  • Advanced experience designing enterprise cloud network solutions.
  • Cloud certifications: Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect and Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Network Engineer.
  • Network engineering certification such as CCNA through CCNP or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of technical network engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of project leadership experience.
  • 8+ years of Layer 2/Layer 3 network architectural design (LAN/WAN) and engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and other LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Strong experience supporting enterprise cloud, large-scale datacenters, and remote sites.
  • Experience with Cisco networking equipment and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Experience with VPN technologies and knowledge of QoS and network security functions.
  • ISP and/or carrier backbone engineering experience/knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills to present complex technical concepts to various audiences.
  • Experience with implementing and operating a software-defined network environment.
  • Vendor management skills for hardware/software security vendors and third-party vendors.
  • Experience working with Data Center Colocation facilities and virtual network fabric providers.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience and CI/CD Pipeline experience.
  • Ability to mentor peers on engineering team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps.
  • Network engineering certification such as CCNP through CCIE or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Akamai, ZScaler, and ThousandEyes.
  • Experience with AGILE methodology & ITSM processes.
  • Deep understanding of virtual network appliance offerings for public cloud providers.
  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture network designs and implementations.
  • Understanding of Cloud Network Security technologies.
  • Familiarity with public cloud provider PaaS and SaaS offerings.
  • Programming/scripting languages knowledge for automation (Python, Ansible, etc.).
  • Experience with Cisco Viptela, Arista, and other SDN/next-gen technologies.
  • Experience architecting and implementing large-scale SD-WAN solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps, ITIL, and platform process & technology.
  • Master's Degree in a Technical Field.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office 365.
