About the position

The Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer (Network) is responsible for the planning, design, and engineering of enterprise-level infrastructure and platforms related to cloud networking and cloud computing, specifically focusing on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role involves providing strategic advice, leading network infrastructure implementation, and ensuring the integration of cloud network solutions across the organization. The engineer will also evaluate cloud network performance, conduct feasibility studies, and influence departmental strategies while working closely with senior executives.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and engineer enterprise-level cloud network infrastructure.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to functional teams.
  • Lead the implementation of Humana's network infrastructure for Google Cloud.
  • Conduct technical planning and architecture development for cloud environments.
  • Develop specifications for new IT cloud computing products and services.
  • Assess compatibility and integration of proposed products/services.
  • Evaluate cloud network performance criteria and measurement methods.
  • Prepare analysis of capacity needs for switching, routing, and signaling.
  • Conduct cloud network architecture design and feasibility studies.
  • Develop alternative cloud routing scenarios and network activity sequences.
  • Influence departmental strategy and make decisions on complex technical issues.
  • Perform on-call and implementation duties as required.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in a technical or scientific field.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting, implementing, and supporting large-scale cloud network infrastructure.
  • Cloud certifications: Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect and Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Network Engineer.
  • Network engineering certification such as CCNA through CCNP or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of technical network engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of project leadership experience.
  • 8+ years of Layer 2/Layer 3 network architectural design and engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and other LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Strong experience supporting enterprise cloud and large-scale datacenters.
  • Experience with Cisco networking equipment and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Experience with VPN technologies and knowledge of QoS and network security functions.
  • ISP and/or carrier backbone engineering experience/knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills to present complex technical concepts to various audiences.
  • Experience with implementing and operating a software-defined network environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps.
  • Network engineering certification such as CCNP through CCIE or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Akamai, ZScaler, and ThousandEyes.
  • Experience with AGILE methodology & ITSM processes.
  • Deep understanding of virtual network appliance offerings for public cloud providers.
  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture network designs and implementations.
  • Understanding of Cloud Network Security technologies.
  • Familiarity with public cloud provider PaaS and SaaS offerings.
  • Knowledge of programming/scripting languages for automation.
