About the position

As a Lead Hardware Engineer at Honeywell, you will be a pivotal contributor to the design and development of innovative hardware solutions. This role is essential in leading and driving the hardware design process, ensuring that high-quality and reliable products are delivered. You will report directly to the Olathe Electronic Solutions Engineering site Leader and work from our Olathe, Kansas location. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the hardware design process from concept through to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define hardware requirements that facilitate seamless integration with other components and systems. This integration is vital for enhancing the overall performance and functionality of our products. Honeywell Anthem is at the forefront of Avionics design, focusing on improving the pilot-machine interface to make pilots' jobs easier and safer. The new integrated Anthem Flight Deck is designed to offer unparalleled connectivity, an intuitive user interface, and a highly scalable and customizable design. As part of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting production for cutting-edge avionics technology that enhances pilots' situational awareness and decision-making capabilities. Your role will involve not only technical design but also mentoring junior engineers and staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure that our products remain at the cutting edge of innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the hardware design process, from concept to production
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define hardware requirements and specifications
  • Design and develop complex hardware systems, including schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Perform hardware testing and validation to ensure product performance and reliability
  • Provide technical expertise to support hardware production
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in hardware design and development
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design principles and methodologies
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools
  • Experience with hardware testing and validation
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven track record of successful hardware design projects
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices
  • Experience with high-speed digital and analog circuit design
  • Knowledge of FPGA and microcontroller-based designs
  • Knowledge of DO-254, Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware and RTCA DO-160 Qualification Guidelines
  • Proficiency with Mentor Graphics X-petition Enterprise Design Flow, Mathcad, MS Excel, and LT-Spice
