About the position

As a Lead Hardware Engineer at Honeywell, you will be a pivotal contributor to the design and development of advanced hardware solutions. This role is critical in leading and driving the hardware design process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and reliable products. You will report directly to the Olathe Electronic Solutions Engineering site leader and work from our Olathe, Kansas location. Your impact will be significant as you lead the hardware design process, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. In this position, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define hardware requirements, enabling seamless integration with other components and systems. This collaboration is essential for enhancing the overall performance and functionality of our products. Honeywell Anthem is at the forefront of Avionics design, focusing on improving the pilot-machine interface to make pilots' jobs easier and safer. The new integrated Anthem Flight Deck offers unparalleled connectivity, an intuitive user interface, and a highly scalable and customizable design. As a key member of the Olathe Electronic Solutions Engineering group, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting production for cutting-edge avionics technology that enhances pilots' situational awareness and decision-making capabilities. You will lead the hardware design process from concept to production, ensuring that our innovative solutions meet the needs of modern aviation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the hardware design process, from concept to production
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define hardware requirements and specifications
  • Design and develop complex hardware systems, including schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Perform hardware testing and validation to ensure product performance and reliability
  • Provide technical expertise to support hardware production
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in hardware design and development
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design principles and methodologies
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools
  • Experience with hardware testing and validation
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven track record of successful hardware design projects
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices
  • Experience with high-speed digital and analog circuit design
  • Knowledge of FPGA and microcontroller-based designs
  • Knowledge of DO-254, Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware and RTCA DO-160 Qualification Guidelines
  • Proficiency with Mentor Graphics X-petition Enterprise Design Flow, Mathcad, MS Excel, and LT-Spice
