About the position

The Lead Hardware Engineer at EVONA will play a pivotal role in leading and contributing to the development of advanced hardware systems for space applications. This position encompasses all phases of the hardware development cycle, including requirements gathering, design, prototyping, testing, and final delivery. The engineer will also be responsible for fostering a strong engineering culture and implementing best practices within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, develop, manufacture, and test next-generation hardware, sensors, and systems.
  • Oversee hardware development through all phases of the cycle: requirements gathering, design, manufacturing, testing, integration, calibration, and documentation.
  • Contribute to the company's engineering culture by implementing best practices and improving existing processes.
  • Design, document, implement, simulate, and test new hardware designs, including task planning and estimation.
  • Develop and document requirements and specifications for digital hardware and systems.
  • Engage actively with both internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience as a technical team leader managing an interdisciplinary engineering team.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment with changing priorities.
  • Experience in serial hardware development combined with software development using Agile methodology.
  • Proficiency with Altium circuit design and layout tools or similar complex development tools.
  • Experience with large FPGAs (Xilinx Ultrascale, Xilinx Ultrascale+) and high-speed Multi-Gbps transceivers (JESD204, PCIE, 10GigE).
  • Knowledge of low-speed interfaces (USB, SPI, UART, SpaceWire).
  • Experience designing multi-giga-sample ADCs & DACs.
  • Experience with board bring-up, debugging, and validation, including developing test procedures.
  • Experience designing for space/radiation environments.
  • Electrical Systems Engineering experience, particularly in deriving requirements from end-use applications.
