Saab, Inc. in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a motivated Lead Hardware Quality Engineer to join our growing team. In this key role, you will drive success and improvement by effectively developing and implementing quality assurance methods and protocols for your assigned area. You will collaborate with Program Management, Production, and Engineering to ensure products are developed, manufactured, and delivered to our customers with the highest level of quality. This position is critical in maintaining the integrity of our products and ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer expectations. As the primary point of contact for all quality issues on the assigned program, you will lead an interdisciplinary program quality team that includes Software Quality, Inspection, and Supplier Quality. Your responsibilities will encompass contract review, quality program planning, and requirements flow-down, ensuring that all aspects of quality are addressed from the outset of the project. You will also develop quality performance estimates for cost proposals and project scheduling, which are essential for maintaining project timelines and budgets. In addition to managing supplier quality on assigned programs, you will be involved in the generation and review of Engineering Change Requests (ECR/N) and participate in Change Control Boards (CCB). Identifying and dispositioning nonconforming material will be a key part of your role, as will chairing the Material Review Board. You will provide internal manufacturing product support and plan and conduct internal product/process audits, as well as support for 2nd and 3rd party audits. Your role will also involve identifying, communicating, and executing value-added process improvements and initiatives, influencing activities during program execution in accordance with internal standards. You will be responsible for data and trend analysis, managing the Oracle ERP database, and monitoring and tracking Corrective Action Requests and Corrective Action Plans. Preventing the shipment of nonconforming material and/or products through in-process and/or final inspection will be a critical aspect of your responsibilities, ensuring that only the highest quality products reach our customers.
