About the position

The Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) group is seeking a Lead Hardware Systems Integration Engineer to lead a cross-functional team of engineers and scientists in the development and maintenance of product development systems. This role is critical in providing state-of-the-art, common, and reliable test platforms that enable new capabilities, particularly in the unique environments required for superconductivity. The Lead Integration Engineer will work closely with research and product development teams to design, develop, deploy, and maintain systems that support the research and development of superconducting electronics. In this position, the Lead Hardware Systems Integration Engineer will provide technical and project leadership for the Integration and Test team, ensuring the adoption of standard processes, configuration management, and good engineering practices. They will own development systems across multiple locations, collaborating with product development teams and the SEIT Lead to align product development and integration systems effectively. The role also involves working with subject matter experts, scientists, and product teams to adopt state-of-the-art practices and technologies from related academic fields and industry. The Lead Engineer will be responsible for developing and communicating road maps for the Integration and Test systems, collaborating with external vendors and internal engineering groups on the development of both commercial and custom hardware. Reporting on Integration and Test activities to product teams, program management, and customers is also a key responsibility, along with supporting program capture and customer engagement activities. The position requires applying systems thinking and sound systems engineering practices within a research and development organization.
