The Lead Human Resources Specialist position is located within the Criminal Division's Office of Administration, specifically on the Human Resources Operations Team (HR Operations). This team plays a crucial role in supporting the mission of the Criminal Division, which involves prosecuting high-profile and nationally significant cases. The HR Operations team is composed of a diverse group of dedicated HR professionals who manage a dynamic and fast-paced workload. Their responsibilities encompass routine matters related to recruitment, staffing, payroll, benefits, and records, as well as addressing unique and exciting requests from all 17 Sections of the Criminal Division. As a Lead HR Specialist, you will work closely with hiring managers throughout all stages of the recruitment process. This includes developing assessments, drafting vacancy announcements, evaluating applicants, and extending offers of employment. You will also advise supervisors on creating accurate position descriptions and ensure their technical adequacy in meeting classification requirements. Your role will involve providing research and analysis on staffing and recruitment issues, including the use of different hiring authorities, pay flexibilities, audit requirements, and recruitment methods, all while adhering to federal codes, public laws, executive orders, and government policies. In addition to these responsibilities, you will manage the workload of a team of HR Specialists and HR Assistants, ensuring that work is prioritized and adjusted as necessary. You will review the work of your team, which includes vacancy announcements, qualifications decisions, draft position descriptions, job analyses, crediting plans, and certificates. Furthermore, you will assist in preparing for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Human Capital audits, contributing to the Department of Justice's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
