About the position

The Lead HVAC Service Technician position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various HVAC systems for a family-owned company in the Glendale/LA area. The role requires a skilled technician with mechanical aptitude and strong customer relations skills to provide both commercial and residential services. The technician will work independently, performing diagnostics and repairs on a range of equipment, while ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, or installing and replacing components of entire HVAC systems.
  • Performing additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment.
  • Conducting performance checks and regular maintenance on HVAC systems.
  • Responding to service calls in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience with HVAC systems.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Ability to lift and maintain holding up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely climb and balance on a ladder.
  • Ability to work in elevated/high locations (i.e., on roofs).
  • Verifiable references and work history.
  • Knowledge of parts and tools necessary for each workday's assigned activities.
  • Possession of hand tools required for the job (list available upon request).
  • Need to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Experience with diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of Lennox split systems, rooftop package units, and ductless split systems.
  • Basic thermostat wiring, programming, and startup skills.
  • Copper welding and flare nut skills.
  • Ability to flush copper lines, vacuum, and add refrigerant.
  • Experience with ductwork including flexible, sheet metal, and spiral.
  • Experience with drain piping, gas piping, and flue vents including sheet metal double wall and PVC.
