About the position

The I&C Hardware/FPGA Design Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing electronic hardware and software for Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems in Nuclear Power Plants. This role involves technical problem-solving, collaboration with various teams, and delivering high-quality engineering designs and testing strategies. The engineer will engage with customers, manage project timelines, and ensure compliance with industry standards while developing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Create designs from requirements and help define requirements where necessary.
  • Perform schematic design, component selection, PCB layout, and PLD/FPGA design.
  • Conduct simulation/module testing and PLD/FPGA code reviews.
  • Document designs by creating Design Specifications and writing test reports.
  • Engage customers to define scope and discuss technical risks.
  • Establish effective work plans with time and schedule estimates.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals to confirm expected performance.
  • Provide clear analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures.
  • Manage time effectively to deliver quality results within project timelines.
  • Communicate work status effectively to leadership.
  • Develop system verification and validation test requirements.
  • Generate and verify test documentation and prepare production test procedures.
  • Drive compliance with GEH and industry-based systems lifecycle processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer or software engineering or an Associate's Degree with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in creating and maintaining electronic circuit boards and/or FPGA design.
  • Knowledge of PCB design, signal analysis, and system verification tools (e.g., Altium, PSpice, SystemVerilog).
  • Experience with common HDL languages and PLD/FPGA development tools (e.g., Quartus, Vivado, ModelSim).
  • General knowledge of schematic design, PCB layout, and PCB manufacturing.
