About the position

Lumen's Black Lotus Labs is seeking a Lead Information Security Engineer to join their US-based Information Security / Big Data team. This role focuses on managing and supporting a big data infrastructure that analyzes cyber threats, utilizing both on-premises and cloud-hosted Linux systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux administration and distributed systems, with a passion for security and innovation in the information security domain.

Responsibilities

• Manage a compute cluster of 200+ machines
• Deploy distributed solutions
• Tune and optimize systems
• Monitor and contribute to alerting systems
• Respond to system alerts
• Open task tracking tickets
• Investigate system resources and processes issues
• Maintain system infrastructure
• Add to the monitoring and alerting systems

Requirements

• Knowledge of big data distributed systems like Hadoop
• Knowledge of Linux administration
• Knowledge of system logging
• Knowledge of host networking

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Linux system usage or administration
• Experience with distributed systems
• Experience with Docker and Docker Swarm
• Experience with Git repository
• Scripting and automation (Bash/Python) of systems
• Experience with CI/CD deployment tools
• Experience with task tracking software like Jira
• Administrating virtual machines on cloud providers
• Securing Linux systems and associated applications
• Managing systems with infrastructure tools like Salt, Bash, Ansible, or Puppet
• Administrating ElasticSearch clusters
