About the position

The Lead Installer in Residential Energy Operations at Tesla is responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of energy products, ensuring compliance with Tesla's standards and policies. This role involves training and mentoring team members, performing routine maintenance, and providing exceptional customer service. The Lead Installer is expected to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating expertise in energy system installation and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Model Tesla standards and responsibilities including policy compliance, quality standards, and efficiency goals.
• Train and mentor team members in energy system installation and maintenance.
• Perform routine maintenance on energy systems and apply advanced knowledge to improve processes.
• Supervise the job site and guide team members to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Install and commission energy systems on roofs, including array layout and mounting hardware based on site conditions.
• Proactively resolve equipment and system issues, troubleshooting obstacles onsite.
• Ensure that equipment is weather sealed and collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure all materials are available.
• Communicate job status to customers and leadership, driving team members to improve efficiency.
• Attend weekly team meetings and mandatory training sessions on new products and safety protocols.
• Provide exceptional customer experience and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of PV equipment, installation, service, and electrical wiring.
• Experience in roof work, general construction, or carpentry preferred.
• Ability to bend conduit unassisted and safely handle power tools and materials.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a collaborative team approach.
• Ability to read building plans and equipment manuals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent customer service.
