The Lead Instructional Designer will be responsible for developing comprehensive training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials tailored for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, and other learners. This role involves conducting skill assessments and gathering input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. The designer will consult with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Additionally, the Lead Instructional Designer will develop curricula that support defined competency models or skill frameworks, ensuring that the training aligns with organizational goals and standards. In this position, the designer will write and edit outlines, syllabi, lecture notes, and materials for both in-person and online courses, as well as self-study programs. Evaluating software and collaboration tools for training purposes is also a key responsibility. The designer will establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and may collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training sessions. The role requires a strong focus on creating engaging, interactive learning content, particularly for online learning, utilizing various modalities such as e-learning courses, videos, gamification activities, and job aids. The Lead Instructional Designer will also maintain accurate documentation and record-keeping to support training outcomes and will be expected to support and edit audio-visual content as needed. This position is integral to ensuring that personnel achieve the required standards of performance and compliance against program requirements, ultimately contributing to the mission of delivering quality, efficient, safe, and innovative solutions to protect infrastructure and critical assets.
