About the position

The Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer at SLB New Energy is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of advanced control systems within the carbon capture and storage sector. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration and optimization of control systems, while adhering to quality, safety, and performance standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of instrumentation & control systems, including hardware and software components.
  • Lead instrumentation selection and sizing in coordination with the cross-discipline team (Process, mechanical, electrical, etc.).
  • Ensure instrumentation & control systems projects meet quality, safety, and performance standards from concept to operation.
  • Implement testing protocols to validate the performance and reliability of various control systems.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Ensure Control Systems deliverables and design adhere to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Evaluate customer inquiries and specifications to determine the appropriate control systems equipment and design for the application.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during project development, design, and installation.
  • Lead a multi-location team of Control Systems Engineers in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects, studies or product development.
  • Develop, review, and ensure proposals contain clearly defined material, equipment, and delivery information.
  • Manage and develop a team of Control Systems Engineers through sharing your technical experience, providing company and individual training opportunities, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices and lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Instrumentation and Control Engineering with a proven track record of delivering on commitments and managing engineering teams.
  • Experience with ANSI, IEEE, ISO, EN, ATEX, IEC, and other international codes and standards in instrumentation, control, and automation systems.
  • Experienced in instrumentation cabling, cable tray layouts, and other related activities.
  • Experience with safety systems, SIL loops, Fire detection, Gas detection, and alarming systems is an advantage.
  • Experience working with FTIR, Gas Chromatograph, mass and ultrasonic flowmeters, and gas and smoke detectors is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in design, testing, and documentation processes.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with safety systems, SIL loops, Fire detection, Gas detection, and alarming systems.
