About the position

The Lead Instrumentation Engineer will oversee project work for clients, focusing on the design and specification of instrumentation systems. This role involves gathering and analyzing technical data to create comprehensive design packages, ensuring that all project requirements are met effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Lead Engineer on project work for clients.
  • Gather and analyze technical data to furnish design packages of instruments.
  • Generate instrument lists, I/O lists, specifications, procurement submittals, operation & maintenance documents, and training materials.
  • Interface with customers as the lead instrumentation engineer.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members, other departments, suppliers, and clients.
  • Perform basic field commissioning and start-up of process control systems related to instrumentation.
  • Direct and check the work of designers and engineers to ensure all standards are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a related engineering field (preferably electrical or mechanical engineering).
  • Three plus (3+) years of experience with specifying, procuring, and calibrating instruments.
  • Knowledge of all facets of process instrumentation.
  • Experience with PLC programs and operator interface software.
  • Experience with P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, wiring schematic diagrams, panel layout, and detail drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel).

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiar with Autodesk CAD software.
  • 5+ years of experience in the field.
  • PLC configuration knowledge is a plus.
