About the position

We are seeking an experienced Lead Interior Designer to take charge of various commercial office space design projects. This role involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities, including initial programming, space planning, and generating detailed CAD drawings with specifications. The Lead Designer will also coordinate and make recommendations for furniture finish plans, ensuring that all design elements align with client expectations and project requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in developing design schemes and leading design teams for interior commercial projects, showcasing their ability to manage multiple aspects of the design process effectively. In this position, the Lead Interior Designer will act as the primary design interface with clients, ensuring clear communication and understanding of their needs. The designer will develop detailed space planning drawings tailored to customer specifications and create design proposal specifications using AutoCAD and other design-specific software. Analyzing customer sketches, specifications, and drawings will be crucial to determining the necessary space planning needs. Additionally, the Lead Designer will manage resource allocations, oversee projects, and conduct post-project follow-ups to ensure client satisfaction. Providing innovative solutions to design challenges and generating alternative design options will be key responsibilities. The designer will also create color boards and presentation packages as needed, develop and coordinate project timelines, and prepare project quotes while managing customer revisions and orders. Administrative support tasks, including managing department Excel spreadsheets and generating management reports, will also be part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary design interface with clients.
  • Develop detailed space planning drawings according to customer specifications.
  • Design proposal specifications using AutoCAD and other design specific programs.
  • Analyze customer sketches, specifications and drawings to determine space planning needs.
  • Manage resource allocations, project oversight and post project follow-ups.
  • Provide solutions to design problems and generate design alternatives.
  • Create color boards and presentation packages when necessary.
  • Develop and coordinate project timelines.
  • Develop project quotes, cost out customer revisions and orders.
  • Manage department Excel spreadsheets.
  • Generate reoccurring and ad hoc management reports.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience working with a commercial furniture dealership is a must.
  • Expertise in layout, color, lighting, materials selection, custom furniture and all installations.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Max, Illustrator or other design programs.
  • Detail oriented and a self directed problem solver.
  • Creative talent, imagination, and an eye for commercial office design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Undergraduate degree in Interior Design.
  • Portfolio of previous works is a plus.
