About the position

The Lead IT Application Developer is responsible for providing operational support for technology solutions within the Arkansas Department of Transportation. This role serves as a key point of contact for complex technology system issues, ensuring that the department's needs are met through effective troubleshooting, system maintenance, and software development. The position involves collaboration with various teams and requires a strong focus on customer service and technical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot technology solutions.
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex system problems for end-users.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform system improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Liaise with IT support sections and provide training and support on system issues.
  • Assist in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct research on emerging application development software products and standards.
  • Write, translate, and code software programs according to specifications.
  • Run and monitor software performance tests and deliver solutions to problem areas.
  • Generate statistics and prepare reports on the programming process.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field, or equivalent experience with a high school diploma and 4 years of advanced application development.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Hands-on software troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of phases of the software development life cycle.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with technical documentation ability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Familiarity with current software development methodologies.
  • Ability to lead others.
