About the position

The Lead IT Support Specialist at Walgreens is responsible for overseeing the installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and repair of hardware and software related to desktop PCs, printers, and network devices. This role involves handling escalated issues, managing workloads, and providing support for managerial tasks. The specialist will also collaborate with customers to resolve complex technical issues and maintain proprietary material handling software.

Responsibilities

  • Leads installation, upgrades, troubleshooting and repair of hardware and software on or related to desktop PCs, printers, and networks.
  • Utilizes tracking software to monitor the resolution of issues and open tickets.
  • Supports area processes and interface requirements.
  • Resets equipment or applies solutions to quickly resolve problems.
  • Resolves complex issues and escalated issues from less experienced support staff.
  • Identifies and documents fault patterns and collaborates with engineering or vendor resources for permanent fixes.
  • Manages and plans workload within the area of responsibility, performing audits and reporting on task completion.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots proprietary material handling software and systems.
  • Collaborates with customers to advise on technical issues and answers complex questions regarding software/hardware.
  • Orders and maintains inventory supplies for IT equipment.

Requirements

  • High School/GED and at least 2 years of experience in an IT customer-facing and/or technical support role.
  • Experience with equipment including printers, terminals, PCs, and RF communication hardware.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating system and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure and server hardware/software, such as Windows Server, Unix/AIX, and vSphere/VMWare.
  • Ability to follow processes, recommend improvements, and translate technical terms to non-technical users.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred Certificate in Network Plus, Microsoft, Cisco or CompTIA
  • Experience at a distribution center or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of coding and/or programming (Visual Basic, HTML, PHP, ASP)
  • Experience building and maintaining databases (Web, Access, SQL)
  • Experience coordinating service requests with appropriate IT team.
