About the position

As a Lead, Learning & Development Specialist at Brighthouse Financial, you will be responsible for creating, delivering, and managing educational materials aimed at employee growth and career development. This role requires a strong understanding of instructional design models to foster a collaborative learning environment that enhances employee engagement and retention. You will also supervise a Learning Specialist, ensuring their professional development and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders to create course materials and gather feedback.
  • Lead and coordinate training efforts with vendor partners to align company programming.
  • Collaborate with team members to design, create, implement, and maintain training using SME-provided content.
  • Perform needs and task analysis, scope projects, and evaluate existing documentation to determine appropriate training approaches.
  • Create storyboards, audio, video scripts, job aids, scenarios, case studies, learning activities, online course content, and user guides using instructional design theory.
  • Develop engaging quizzes, simulations, and assessments based on learning objectives.
  • Manage relationships with various SMEs in a high-impact, deadline-driven environment.
  • Maintain and develop course templates, models, standards, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on trends and best practices in eLearning and instructional design.
  • Supervise and assess direct reports, providing regular feedback and development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of proven experience designing training.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • FINRA Registration of SIE and Series 6 or willingness to obtain within 12-18 months of employment.
  • In-depth understanding of instructional design models and adult learning principles.
  • Facilitation skills for in-person, virtual, and hybrid training delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver effective presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of annuity products and ability to educate on them.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with authoring tools like Articulate360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and eLearning platforms.
  • Knowledge of SCORM, AICC, and xAPI.
  • Strong graphics skills for creating course materials and user interfaces.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in corporate training environments.
  • Familiarity with multimedia and computer-based training development.
