About the position

The Lead Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of a complex enterprise server infrastructure to support TUHS business operations. This role involves leading technical projects, monitoring UNIX/Linux/AIX environments, and ensuring compliance with standards and policies. The position requires effective communication with associates, management, and clients, as well as providing technical customer support and 24x7 on-call services.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and administer a complex enterprise server infrastructure.
  • Recommend, architect, and deliver technology solutions based on business requirements.
  • Lead teams in executing technical solutions based on project plans and customer needs.
  • Act as the technical project leader for large scale projects.
  • Monitor the ongoing operation of the UNIX/Linux/AIX environment to enable proactive resolution of potential issues.
  • Identify problems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation, including configuration and design documentation.
  • Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and recommend changes to policies and procedures.
  • Interface effectively with associates, management, and clients in a team environment.
  • Provide technical customer support and 24x7 on-call services for supported environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5 years' experience in large-scale, complex infrastructure environments, with 2 years in a hospital environment.
  • 2 years' experience in Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) in a 24x7 environment.
  • 5 years' experience in technical support of a production Linux/AIX Environment.
  • Proficient experience with network protocols and design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Red Hat certified System Administrator (preferred)
  • Red Hat Certified System Engineer (a plus)
  • IBM Certified Specialist (a plus)
  • Experience with storage platforms like Hitachi and Pure is a plus.
