About the position

The Lead Logistics Coordinator at the Michigan Milk Producers Association is responsible for providing comprehensive logistical support for the scheduling and transportation of raw milk deliveries and pasteurized products to manufacturing customers. This role involves managing daily dispatch operations, ensuring compliance with customer processes, and supervising one direct report in the transportation department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily dispatch and hauler schedule with assigned delivery times
  • Provide after hour support for hauler, plant and customer issues, including weekend and holiday call coverage on a rotational basis
  • Manage the hauler board and hauler daily schedule notification
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers
  • Maintain hauler and carrier lists
  • Optimize hauling and freight expenses
  • Balance information with dairies
  • Input data for detention times, invoices, component calculations, daily delivery, scheduling and sales into ERP system
  • Confirm advance and month end check out reports with dairy customers
  • Maintain a summary of milk receipts and update data used for uniform receiving credit
  • Meet with haulers to discuss concerns and report to management
  • Assign haulers to sales in the ERP system
  • Maintain the transportation module in ERP
  • Monitor product load out at MMPA plants and receiving at customer locations
  • Manage the customer receiving relationship on a timed schedule to facilitate timely loading and unloading of trucks
  • Ensure compliance with customer processes and procedures and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Manage current transportation contracts to ensure contract compliance and customer service
  • Prepare a summary of sales to out of state markets, cancelation fees, and supplemental sales

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics / Supply Chain or equivalent experience
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience in logistics or supply chain
  • Minimum of three years relevant dispatch experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong planning, organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations
