About the position

As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer at Target, you will be part of a Data Sciences team focused on creating personalized recommendations for Target.com and the Target App. This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing production machine learning solutions while ensuring best practices in software design and code quality. You will also conduct training sessions, present your work to various stakeholders, and align machine learning solutions with business priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize production machine learning solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain a well-tested codebase with documentation.
  • Conduct training sessions and present work to technical and non-technical peers.
  • Translate business requirements into machine learning solutions at scale.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers.
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated model deployment and testing.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Quantitative disciplines or equivalent experience.
  • MS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in end-to-end Machine Learning application development.
  • Highly proficient in Python and either PySpark or Scala.
  • Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, sklearn, and ONNX.
  • Experience with cloud ML services like Vertex AI, Azure ML, or Sagemaker.
  • Experience using distributed training frameworks like Spark, Ray, or TensorFlow Distributed.
  • Experience with serving frameworks such as TorchServe, TensorFlow Serving, or FastAPI.
  • Good understanding of Big Data technologies, specifically Hadoop, Kafka, and Spark.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related field.
  • Proficiency in Java.
