About the position

As a Lead Machine Operator at Dart Container, you will apply your advanced machine operating expertise to perform a wide variety of machine operation duties while assisting in maintaining department efficiencies at maximum output levels. This role requires you to work closely with your supervisor and support all assigned personnel, materials, resources, and equipment requirements during your respective shift. It is essential that you spend approximately 85% of your time on the production floor, actively engaging in the operations and ensuring that all processes run smoothly. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include following and committing to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements. You will adhere to practices and processes that ensure the production of safe products compliant with appropriate laws and regulations, as well as meeting the company’s quality standards. As a lead, you will provide support over machine operations within the plant, which may span multiple departments, production lines, processes, and technologies. You will be responsible for auditing the floor as required by Leader Standard Work, monitoring productivity metrics, verifying adherence to procedures and standard work, correcting deficiencies, and escalating issues to your supervisor as necessary. Coordination with your supervisor to review and maintain schedules will be crucial to ensure that resources are available to meet production schedules. You will also communicate with oncoming shifts about any problems or issues that may arise, working collaboratively with other departments to maintain or improve communications. In addition to these responsibilities, you will perform processes in SAP as required, track and maintain appropriate documentation, create and deliver required reports, and actively support Operational Excellence initiatives. You will complete root cause analysis and recommend solutions, evaluate experimental procedures, and suggest changes for improved efficiency. Your role may also involve setting up, starting, adjusting, testing, calibrating, operating, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and properly shutting down process equipment. You will conduct quality checks, correct deficiencies, and initiate quality audits as necessary, ensuring that all products and materials in the department meet quality standards and appropriate inventory levels are maintained.
