About the position

The Lead Maintenance Technician at Macon Housing Authority is responsible for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment related to the assigned property. This role requires specialized knowledge in various trades including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and HVAC systems, and involves guiding the work of other maintenance employees while ensuring compliance with safety practices and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair buildings, facilities, electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
• Operate equipment and machines including saws, drill presses, and various hand and power tools for repair and maintenance work.
• Provide functional and technical direction to maintenance employees on assigned projects.
• Repair and treat structures such as floors, bathtubs, sinks, cabinets, walls, roofs, stairways, and carpets.
• Repair and replace windows, screens, doors, and hinges; adjust locks on doors, cabinets, and closets.
• Inspect various ventilation units and install, maintain, and service equipment such as ranges, refrigerators, heating systems, air conditioners, and water heaters.
• Install fire extinguishers and maintain service schedules.
• Estimate labor and material costs for work orders and complete them.
• Document tenant charges and maintain inventory of parts and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with safety practices and federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
• Participate in the On-Call rotation for after-hours maintenance emergencies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years general maintenance experience in the maintenance and repair of building structures, household appliances, plumbing fixtures, and HVAC equipment.
• HVAC certification strongly preferred.
• Valid Georgia driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to pass drug screen and criminal background check.

Benefits

• Salary based on experience; $25.00/hour minimum.
