About the position

The Maintenance Lead position at Hanes Brands is a critical role that involves providing leadership, guidance, and training to a team of Maintenance Technicians, Senior Maintenance Technicians, Electronics Technicians, and Battery Changers. This position is essential for supporting both Production and Maintenance operations by leading and performing preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting breakdowns, executing repairs, managing projects, and overseeing various maintenance activities. The Maintenance Lead is expected to communicate effectively with both supervision and management while also ensuring clear communication with the maintenance staff. In this role, the Maintenance Lead will conduct pre-shift meetings with the team to set the tone for the day and provide daily or weekly work assignments. They will lead training initiatives for both new and existing team members, ensuring that all staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively. The Maintenance Lead will also be responsible for leading breakdown repair initiatives and coordinating additional support as needed. Monitoring the Dematic EMS systems in Case, CHEC, and Pallet is a key responsibility to ensure that orders are processed efficiently. The Maintenance Lead will strive to become an advanced user of the EMS and Beumer BeOS control systems, which are vital for the operation of machinery and equipment. They will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing assets according to operation manuals, drawings, manufacturers' specifications, and applicable building and electrical codes. Ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all machinery and equipment is paramount, including addressing faults, jams, and crashes as they occur. Additionally, the Maintenance Lead will be tasked with ensuring that assigned assets or areas are maintained according to guidelines set by the management team. This includes conducting routine checks and scheduled audits to verify that PMs and associated work orders have been completed. They will log necessary data for required reports related to analysis, errors, and maintenance activities. The role also encompasses the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the Fire Safety Monitoring System, including performing system tests and maintenance for pumps and generators. The Maintenance Lead will also be involved in various other functions, such as installing, performing PM, and repairing dock doors, facility lights, plumbing, and plant equipment. They will safely and effectively use and maintain facility and Maintenance Department vehicles, assist in the VSC Lift Truck and Battery program, and handle snow and ice removal responsibilities. This position requires a proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to safety and efficiency in all operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with the team.
  • Provide team members with daily or weekly work assignments.
  • Lead training initiatives for new and existing team members.
  • Lead breakdown repair initiatives and call in additional support as needed.
  • Monitor Dematic EMS systems in Case, CHEC, and Pallet to ensure orders are being processed as needed.
  • Strive to become an advanced user in EMS and Beumer BeOS control systems.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair assets using operation manuals, drawings, manufacturers specifications, and applicable building/electrical codes.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all machinery and equipment, including clearing faults, jams, and crashes.
  • Maintain assigned assets or areas per guidelines set by the management team, including routine checks and scheduled audits.
  • Log necessary data for required reports pertaining to analysis, errors, and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair general functions of the Fire Safety Monitoring System, including performing system tests and maintenance for pumps and generators.
  • Responsible for all assigned PMs.
  • Acquire necessary understanding of HK system software and WonderWare to operate, maintain, and repair VSC equipment.
  • Install, PM, and repair dock doors, locks, levelers, chocks, lights, etc.
  • Install, PM, and repair facility lights, fixtures, ballast, etc.
  • Install, PM, and repair facility plumbing such as sinks, toilets, faucets, etc.
  • Install, PM, and repair various plant equipment such as bailers, cardboard conveyors, heat seal machines, etc.
  • Safely use and maintain facility and Maintenance Department vehicles such as pickup trucks, dump trucks, etc.
  • Assist in the VSC Lift Truck and Battery program, including general maintenance for lift vehicles and battery maintenance.
  • Assembly, repair, or relocation of office furniture and equipment.
  • Responsible for plant snow and ice removal and PM of snow removal equipment.

Requirements

  • 5 years of maintenance experience in industrial manufacturing or distribution.
  • Knowledge of and experience with basic hand tools.
  • Experience with PLC setup, programming, and troubleshooting preferred but not required.
  • Experience with VFD setup, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with HMI and SCADA systems preferred but not required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification to drive all Facility Powered Industrial Equipment.
