The Continuous Improvement Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing and specifying advanced electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems. This position is essential for improving manufacturing support and maintenance programs through effective training and technical support. The engineer will be responsible for developing process specifications, machine parameters, and plans aimed at reducing scrap and improving uptime. Additionally, the role involves driving capital projects from the strategic planning phase through to purchase, installation, run-off, and hand-off to operations. The engineer will benchmark best-in-class facilities and implement world-class processes, equipment, and workflows to enhance operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include designing control systems for machine tools, which encompass electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. The engineer will select capital equipment for manufacturing processes and work on improving current machine tools to increase uptime, enhance quality, and boost productivity. Providing engineering support to production equipment and processes is crucial, including advising maintenance teams on best practices. The engineer will establish programs for cost-saving activities that align with overall plant requirements and will advise on improving preventative maintenance programs. Collaboration with suppliers and internal engineers for continuous improvement programs is a vital aspect of this role. The engineer will have the authority to approve changes to machine tool programs and will be responsible for training associates on new technologies and manufacturing processes. Adherence to Quality Management System and Environmental Management System requirements is mandatory, and involvement in team activities is expected. The engineer will also track and accumulate cost savings and will be familiar with PFMEAs, developing, maintaining, and reviewing them as needed. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
