The Lead Marine Applications Engineer plays a crucial role in the technical activities associated with tendering during the bid phase. This position requires collaboration with the Sales and Commercial Operations (ComOps) team to create technically compliant proposals for identified opportunities. The engineer will perform a thorough technical analysis of requests for information (RFI) or requests for quotes (RFQ), ensuring that all proposals meet the necessary technical compliance standards while also addressing customer needs and value propositions. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for defining, selecting, and optimizing the products and systems proposed. This includes providing a detailed equipment scope description for all proposed items, which encompasses scope of supply documents and equipment datasheets. Additionally, the engineer will produce system-level descriptions and documents, such as single line diagrams, descriptions of operation, and functional specifications. Identifying and documenting technical risks, along with developing mitigation strategies, is also a key responsibility. The engineer will gain approval for the Technical Risk Assessment (TRA) and Technical Sign Off (TSO), ensuring that all compliance plans are completed satisfactorily. The Lead Marine Applications Engineer will also develop a technical compliance matrix and provide equipment and engineering schedules and costs, focusing on internal policies and customer requirements. Producing equipment engineering specification sheets (ESS) for relevant scopes is essential, as is engaging in technical negotiations and cost validation in collaboration with engineering and sourcing teams. The engineer will develop costing and pricing for opportunities and update these as solutions evolve, providing technical expertise during discussions with potential customers. Finally, the engineer will lead the technical handover for projects that are successfully won, ensuring a smooth transition from proposal to execution.
