About the position

The Lead Marketing & Proposal Specialist will play a crucial role in the Transportation Group at CDM Smith, focusing on large and complex project pursuits exceeding $10 million. This position involves leading the strategy during the presell stage, collaborating with various stakeholders to create compelling proposals and presentations, and ensuring that marketing materials are up-to-date and effective. The specialist will apply exceptional writing and creative skills to develop clear and persuasive content, while also facilitating brainstorming sessions and strategy development for marketing efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead strategist during the presell stage on large, highly complex project pursuits (>$10M).
  • Provide and facilitate writing and editing for complex proposals, presentations, and related marketing materials.
  • Apply exceptional writing, editing, and creative abilities to develop clear and compelling content.
  • Facilitate and participate in brainstorming, storyboarding, and strategy development sessions.
  • Utilize a theme-based approach in proposal and presentation development.
  • Partner with senior staff to develop strategies for regional and national conferences and other marketing opportunities.
  • Update CDM Smith marketing materials, including resumes and project descriptions, ensuring they are maintained and up to date.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8 years of related experience.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and sustain pursuit team engagement.
  • Experience facilitating strategy/brainstorming sessions with technical and non-technical members.
  • Exceptional writing/editing/proofreading skills.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe InDesign, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines and assignments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Writing, Communications, or a related degree.
  • Large pursuit and strategic business development planning experience.
  • Proposal development experience in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction industry, specifically in the transportation market.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing theme-based messaging that highlights differentiators and solutions.
  • Previous experience using MS Teams, SharePoint Excel, Qlik, Mural, and/or Salesforce.
