About the position

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer specializing in Heat Exchangers at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in designing solutions that enhance safety and quality of life. This position is part of UOP, a Honeywell company, which is renowned for its leadership in hydrocarbon processing technologies. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise across various projects and programs, ensuring compliance with UOP specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. Your role will involve being the primary point of contact for external customers, and you will contribute to the development and definition of engineering processes within your area of expertise. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to participate in the development of new business opportunities and product lines. In this role, you will support and supervise the Static Equipment group, which is responsible for design engineering, requisitioning, vendor drawing and calculation review, fabrication support, and inspection activities for various static equipment required for Equipment Product Lines. You will manage resource planning and provide direct supervision of contract service workers and/or purchased services for the Static Equipment group, assisting with their onboarding, mentorship, and coaching throughout project execution. You will be assigned as a team member to multiple contracts, acting as the prime internal technical contact for all matters related to Reactors, Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Tanks, and other static equipment. Collaboration with team members from various disciplines such as Process, Piping, Mechanical, CAD-design, and Project Management will be essential. Your responsibilities will also include the design and detailed engineering of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks according to international codes such as ASME Section VIII Div. 1 & 2, PD 5500, TEMA, API 650, API 660, API 661, and API 663. You should have experience with design software such as Compress, PV Elite, Aspen (B-JAC), and HTRI, and be capable of performing thermal rating, thermal design, and mechanical design calculations independently.

Responsibilities

  • Support and supervise activities of the Static Equipment group.
  • Provide design engineering, requisitioning, vendor drawing and calculation review, fabrication support, and inspection activities for static equipment.
  • Manage resource planning and supervise contract service workers and/or purchased services for the Static Equipment group.
  • Assist with onboarding, mentorship, and coaching of team members.
  • Act as the prime internal technical contact for Reactors, Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Tanks, and other static equipment on multiple contracts.
  • Collaborate with team members from Process, Piping, Mechanical, CAD-design, and Project Management disciplines.
  • Design and detail engineering of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks as per international codes.
  • Perform thermal rating, thermal design, and mechanical design calculations for heat exchangers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • 8 or more years of applicable industry experience.
  • 5 years experience in static equipment design, specification, and/or manufacture of Pressure Vessels per ASME Section VIII D1 or D2.
  • Advanced knowledge of ASME Section VIII D1 requirements related to Vessel Design, Welding, PWHT, and Non-Destructive Examination.
  • Significant experience in Vessel Design software such as Compress or PV-Elite.
