About the position

The Lead Mechanical Engineer for Water/Wastewater at Black & Veatch will be responsible for performing mechanical system design and engineering calculations for water and wastewater projects. This role involves leading a team of engineers, coordinating with equipment manufacturers, and overseeing the development of engineering work products. The engineer will also mentor junior staff and ensure project execution aligns with scope, budget, and schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical system design for water/wastewater projects.
  • Conduct engineering calculations to develop equipment and system performance parameters for sizing equipment.
  • Lead a team of mechanical engineers on moderately complex projects, ensuring project execution relative to scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers to select technically acceptable design solutions.
  • Oversee the development of engineering work products including P&IDs, mechanical arrangement drawings, and specifications.
  • Review manufacturer's or contractor's submittals for conformance with contract design documents.
  • Lead and mentor junior mechanical engineers by assigning tasks and reviewing progress.
  • Act as the Responsible Engineer for various mechanical systems or equipment.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines and project stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 8 years related work experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
