About the position

The Lead Medical Assistant at Kavya Medical is responsible for supervising a small team of medical assistants and administrative staff to ensure high-quality patient care in a fast-paced internal medicine practice. This full-time position involves coordinating daily operational activities, managing chronic care, overseeing laboratory results, and providing support to medical providers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and maintains daily operational activities to ensure the delivery of quality care.
  • Responsible for primary care chronic care management, including case management and compliance with clinical integration programs.
  • Monitors and manages alerts for patient follow-up for disease management, ensuring necessary labs and appointments are completed.
  • Oversees laboratory results and tracks follow-up on abnormal results.
  • Trains new and existing staff along with the clinic manager.
  • Assists with intake, financial screening, and setup for patient visits.
  • Provides ongoing supervision to medical and lab assistants, and volunteer staff on health education and laboratory services.
  • Handles medication refill requests, specialty, and procedure referrals, and pre/post clinic chart reviews as needed.
  • Manages clinical inventory and orders supplies based on projected demand.
  • Reviews charts, lab test results, and encounter forms for completeness and follow-up needs.
  • Assists with clinic scheduling, patient wait times, and other areas to improve service efficiency and quality.
  • Coordinates work for preventive care and immunization, including follow-ups on missed appointments and high-risk referrals.
  • Collaborates with clinic staff on programs to improve patient outcomes.
  • Organizes and participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Coordinates inventory, ordering, and supply stock maintenance of medical supplies.
  • Provides backup for patient services representatives and other clinic support staff when needed.
  • Assists with administrative projects and tasks as required.
  • Prepares and stocks treatment rooms, bathrooms, and lab for use, ensuring cleanliness.
  • Supervises a team of Medical Assistants and receptionists, including scheduling, training, coaching, and delegating work.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a medical assistant.
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification is required.
