About the position

The Lead Medical Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in the daily operations of a medical billing company, assisting the owner in managing claims processes and administrative billing duties. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to multitask effectively. The ideal candidate will contribute to the growth of the company in the Houston and Dallas areas while ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business development, claim processes, and patient concerns, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Process claims and communicate with clients, running reports and providing daily status updates to the owner.
  • Ensure the weekly schedule is followed and optimize the use of time and resources.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Assist patients with inquiries regarding their care, insurance, and billing processes.
  • Utilize medical and dental terminology effectively to communicate with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Perform clerical duties including filing, data entry, and managing correspondence.
  • Demonstrate phone etiquette by handling incoming calls professionally and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care delivery.
  • Provide assistance in health information management tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a patient service or medical receptionist role preferred.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Strong clerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
  • Knowledge of medical and dental terminology is highly desirable.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • A compassionate demeanor with a focus on providing high-quality patient care.
