About the position

The Lead Medical Support Assistant (MSA) at the Lebanon VA Medical Center is responsible for coordinating Advanced MSA assignments and workflow within an interdisciplinary unit. This role involves daily workload assessments, assigning work, and ensuring proper staffing coverage while providing support across various clinical settings. The Lead MSA serves as a point of contact for patient advocacy, assists providers with necessary paperwork, manages appointment scheduling, and ensures efficient clinic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Advanced MSA assignments and workflow in an interdisciplinary unit.
  • Conduct daily workload assessments and assign work to staff.
  • Ensure proper staffing coverage and evaluate training records.
  • Assist with complex and non-standard procedures related to clinical flow processes.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for customer service and patient advocacy.
  • Prepare paperwork requested by Veterans and Providers, track claims, and manage appointment scheduling.
  • Communicate and share information with providers and clerks to ensure efficient processes.
  • Identify and prepare required forms and documents prior to clinic sessions.
  • Manage clinic grids, office supplies, and setup for clinic operations.
  • Monitor administrative quality and measures for Compensation and Pension processes.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Six months of experience in clerical, office, customer service, or administrative work.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to perform duties in a medical support assistant role.
