About the position

The Lead Marketing Strategist at the University of Rochester is responsible for advising and supporting digital-first strategies to achieve annual fundraising and engagement goals. This role involves developing messaging and media strategies, overseeing the email marketing program, and managing marketing campaigns. The strategist will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion, while also providing clear communication on campaign effectiveness and project status to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on and support digital-first strategies for fundraising and engagement goals.
  • Develop messaging and media strategies in collaboration with creative and content teams.
  • Oversee the email marketing program for Advancement.
  • Act as project manager for marketing and communication plans, establishing schedules and budgets.
  • Communicate progress and effectiveness of campaigns to leadership and internal teams.
  • Manage marketing campaigns from strategy development to market implementation.
  • Track and present campaign results, including key performance metrics and ROI measures.
  • Consult on marketing and communications projects, developing original plans and customer journeys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 7 years of relevant and progressive experience required; 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce, G4/Google Analytics, Looker Studio, and other software platforms required.
  • Experience in creating and implementing strategic communications plans with proven results required.
  • Strong organization and project management skills required.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data analysis and metrics.
  • Proficiency in graphic design.
