About the position

The NDE Engineering position is focused on the development, implementation, and qualification of non-destructive testing methods and procedures for the GE Vernova Gas Power business and other related sectors. This role supports various product lines, including Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, and HRSG, through assigned projects and mentorship from senior engineers. Responsibilities include inspection development, specification creation, failure analysis, and participation in materials development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, improve, or clarify NDE processes and procedures in collaboration with NDE engineers.
  • Interface with Design Engineering to specify appropriate NDE techniques and limits for components.
  • Qualify NDT techniques at suppliers and in-house as necessary.
  • Support training activities to accomplish qualification activities.
  • Interpret NDE results and determine material disposition based on inspection findings.
  • Maintain an active role in developing state-of-the-art NDE test methods for future turbine and generator designs.
  • Handle material-related issues as a Materials Applications Engineer, including understanding material processing factors affecting NDE inspectability.
  • Conduct failure analysis and forensic engineering to determine root causes of failures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials, or Non-Destructive Testing, or a high school diploma/GED with 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience in NDE/engineering field.
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Centrally certified (ASNT or equivalent) Level III in at least one NDT Method.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market, and manage programs effectively.
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills.
