About the position

TEKsystems is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to support our client in Boise, ID on a Contract to Hire (or Permanent) Basis. This is an on-site role in Boise, ID 5 days a week for the contract duration and will transition to hybrid (3 days per week) upon Full Time conversion. The Lead Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting, analyzing, and documenting an Enterprise WAN/LAN/WLAN focused on corporate offices, stores, and distribution centers. The role involves installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware and software to meet the network performance requirements of the company. The engineer will diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring minimal downtime. Additionally, the Lead Network Engineer will develop, design, and recommend network technology solutions, provide end-user training, consulting, and assistance as required, and manage IT network projects at times. Consistently providing world-class customer service to internal and external customers is a key aspect of this role. The typical duties and responsibilities include collaborating with IT staff to create optimal network design topologies and configurations, providing system support for all aspects of cabling and networking hardware and software products, maintaining all network hardware and software including routers, switches, wireless controllers, VPN appliances, PBX's, and intercom systems. The engineer will also design, engineer, and maintain security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and VPNs, as well as network and telephony solutions. Practicing network asset management, conducting and reviewing research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts are also part of the job. The engineer will respond to emergency network outages, perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems, and maintain current knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery plan executables. The role requires participation in incident response for network or security-related instances and providing guidance and training to IT staff as required. Managing assigned projects to deliver services that meet established objectives on time and within budget is also expected.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • At least 6 years of Network Administration experience in a wireless environment.
  • Proficient with Aruba network technologies/AOS/HPE.
  • Extensive Wireless network and data center experience.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • Network engineering experience at an enterprise level.
  • Ability to lead a team of network engineers and make key network design decisions.
  • Data Center Experience.
  • Design and Engineering of SNMP MIB Based network monitoring system.
  • Technical knowledge of network routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, HSRP, VRRP); switching protocols (LaCP, PaGP, Etherchannel); security protocols (IPSec, GRE, 802.1x); wireless (802.11a/b/g/n); WAN protocols (DMVPN, MPLS).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Implementing secure network segmentation through VLAN technologies.
  • Effectively utilizing Netflow to diagnose high-level network issues.
  • Ability to use log correlation tools such as Splunk and Syslog to diagnose complex network issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous Grocery/Retail/Wholesale Distribution industry experience.
  • CCNP, ACMP certification.
