About the position

SAIC is seeking an experienced Lead Network Engineer to support the Space Development Agency (SDA) Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) Futures Program (PFP), specifically focusing on Ground Segment (GS) Integration (PGI). The primary goal of the PGI is to establish a common, enduring ground infrastructure and resources that minimize cost and complexity for PFP space vehicle demonstration and experimentation programs. This position is remote, with occasional travel to customer sites required. In this role, the Lead Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing, planning, modifying, and maintaining networks and network components that support data, voice, and audio communication activities. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment alongside experienced engineers and customers. The Lead Network Engineer will lead the network team, ensuring that space vehicles can effectively communicate with ground systems. This includes monitoring and supporting the network infrastructure, which consists of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, as well as virtual server environments, including servers, storage area networks, and VMware. The engineer should possess the ability to troubleshoot, install, implement, and administer network systems efficiently. The Lead Network Engineer will be tasked with configuring, deploying, upgrading, and troubleshooting multivendor switches, routers, firewalls, UPS, and other network equipment in both operational and test environments. The role also requires deploying, operating, or administering Linux and Unix systems, providing occasional after-hours operational support for networks, and applying knowledge of enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as Solar Winds and WireShark to analyze network activity and problems. Additionally, the engineer will establish overall strategic network standards and priorities to maintain the network baseline, recommend design changes or enhancements, and analyze the optimization of network systems performance. High-level technical advice and guidance will be provided to managers and technical resources to ensure that network technologies meet current and future organizational needs. The engineer will also develop and maintain network topologies and diagrams.
