About the position

Gartner seeks a Network Lead Security Engineer to join our Enterprise Information Security Team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a robust security posture across Gartner's diverse technology landscape. Your expertise in security best practices, network security, data protection, and endpoint security will be essential in protecting Gartner's assets and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information. You will collaborate with leadership on the long-term strategy for network security, partnering with key resources to execute against that strategy. Additionally, you will work with a small team of associates focused on network security and security automation, designing, implementing, and optimizing security solutions that align with industry best practices and Gartner's specific needs. As a Network Lead Security Engineer, you will manage and advise on a variety of security tools and platforms, including endpoint protection, firewalls, cloud network security, and custom-developed security bots. You will contribute to measurable strategic goals and priorities demonstrated through a mature metrics framework, staying abreast of the latest security technologies and trends to identify opportunities for enhancing Gartner's security controls. Your role will also involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess security risks, identify risk, prioritize, and develop remediation plans. You will participate in security incident response activities, providing technical expertise and leadership, and develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of security processes, procedures, and configurations. This position requires you to apply expert knowledge to solve complex business and technical issues, take ownership of assignments, and drive them to completion. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our Information Security organization, ensuring that Gartner remains at the forefront of security innovation and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Leadership on the long-term strategy for network security, partnering with key resources to execute against that strategy.
  • Collaborate with a small team of associates focused on network security and security automation.
  • Design, implement, and optimize security solutions that align with industry best practices and Gartner's specific needs.
  • Manage and advise on a variety of security tools and platforms (e.g., endpoint protection, firewalls, cloud network security, custom-developed security bot).
  • Contribute to a number of measurable strategic goals and priorities demonstrated through a mature metrics framework.
  • Stay abreast of the latest security technologies and trends to identify opportunities for enhancing Gartner's security controls.

  • Participate in security incident response activities, providing technical expertise and leadership.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of security processes, procedures, and configurations.

  • Take part in shaping the future of our Information Security organization.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in implementing and managing network security platforms like Zscaler, NGFW, or similar (SaaS and cloud).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (IaaS & PaaS) in Azure or AWS.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, common attack vectors, and mitigation strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of network security, data protection, and endpoint security concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with technical and business stakeholders.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Prior success in leading complex technology development, managing priorities, concept-to-implementation execution, and delivering market-leading technology solutions.
  • Familiarity with technical security controls, guidelines, and frameworks outlined by standards such as SOC2, ISO 27001/27013, NIST 800-53.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, CCNP Security, AWS or Azure Security)
  • Software engineering skills in languages like Python, C#, Java, .Net, Node
  • Experience with bot architecture and design
  • Preferred skills in Gsuite, Microsoft Office, JIRA, and Confluence.
