Lead Nuclear Radiological Engineer

About the position

The Lead Nuclear Radiological Engineer will support nuclear and radiological design engineering efforts for Small Modular Reactor (SMR), Advanced Reactor (AR), and medical isotope facility design projects. This role involves working on the next generation of modular nuclear power plants and technologies, focusing on both domestic and international projects. The engineer will collaborate with multi-discipline teams to perform radiological dose calculations, shielding design calculations, and radiation monitoring system designs, while also providing technical support to clients.

Responsibilities

• Support nuclear/radiological design engineering efforts for SMR, AR, and medical isotope facility projects.
• Perform radiological dose calculations and shielding design calculations.
• Conduct radiation source term calculations and design radiation monitoring systems.
• Travel to client offices and nuclear plant sites for project meetings.
• Address emergent issues and provide technical support to nuclear clients.

Requirements

• US citizenship or US permanent resident status is mandatory.
• BS in Nuclear Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; MS degree preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of nuclear/radiological experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear computer programs such as RADTRAD, SCALE, MCNP, MicroShield, and others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• PE license desired, but not required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in nuclear radiation monitoring system design is desired, but not required.
