About the position

The Lead Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will serve as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Lead within the Virtual Clinical Support team at Mass General Brigham Medical Group. This role encompasses both clinical and administrative responsibilities, focusing on managing the VCS care team, overseeing virtual consultations, and guiding APPs in delivering high-quality, efficient care. The APP Lead will enhance workflow efficiencies, support staff development, and improve patient care processes.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor APPs to ensure high standards of patient care and professional development.
  • Coordinate APP tasks, managing in-basket workloads, virtual consultations, and refill requests to optimize clinic efficiency.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and establish individual development plans for team members.
  • Act as a lead liaison to ensure smooth communication between patients, PCPs, APPs, and specialists.
  • Oversee the management of prescription refill requests by the APP team, ensuring compliance with clinical decisions.
  • Ensure prompt responses to patient messages through the EHR, guiding APPs on issues that don't require direct PCP involvement.
  • Monitor and support the review of lab results and follow-up actions during PCP coverage periods.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance team operations and patient care delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, telehealth protocols, and organizational policies.
  • Encourage ongoing education and training for the APP team to improve patient care and professional development.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies required.
  • 4-6 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required.
  • Certified Massachusetts & New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required upon hire.
